Alexandria in Bloom, also known as Clean and Beautiful Alexandria, is a voluntary project supported by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the American Horticultural Society and the Alexandria Times. The goal is to increase the cleanliness and beauty of the Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, business corridor along King Street and one block north and south of King Street from the Waterfront to the King Street Metro Station. Such efforts include planting flowers in over 500 tree wells, encouraging store owners/managers to keep their area of the sidewalk clean and recruiting Block Captains to work with others on the block to achieve our goal.
Alexandria in Bloom is a non-profit corporation which has applied for 501(c)(3) status and is fully funded by donations from local businesses and residents, while hoping to receive other grant funding as the effort develops.
Among the board members are two major landlords, the CEO of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, CEO of the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, a well-known member of the commercial real estate brokerage community and several residents of Old Town Alexandria
